About Mystic Oral School Advocates
Mystic Oral School Advocates is a group of Groton neighbors in the area of the Mystic Oral School (also known as the Mystic Education Center) and beyond, who have come together for the purpose of advocating for reasonable development of the Mystic Oral School property. We are starting back up after a quiet period in town due to the requirement to produce a Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) in 2025. The POCD lays out the classification and future uses for the entire town land mass. A link to the current document can be found on the Documents page.The current POCD was pivotal in the struggle to curtail and ultimately stop the development of the Mystic Oral School using a proposal not fit-for-purpose.
The goals of MOSA in 2023 were:
Advocate for the reasonable development of the Mystic Oral School property.
Advocate for a proper, transparent request for proposal (RFP) process, including a fair and informed decision mechanism for choosing the best proposal that fits with the existing nature of the area as reflected in the current zoning classifications.
